Dr. Benjamin A. Ogwo

Associate Professor

Dr. Ogwo is an Associate Professor and the Coordinator, Occupational Competency Assessment Program, Department of Vocational Teacher Preparation, State University of New York (SUNY), Oswego, New York. USA. Prior to his present appointment, Dr. Ogwo was an Adjunct Visiting Scholar in Workforce Development and Education Program, Department of Learning & Performance Systems, Pennsylvania State University and worked at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka as a Professor, Industrial Technical & Workforce Education. He had also severed as external examiner to the doctoral programs at University of Technology, Jamaica and University of Minnesota, (Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development Work and Human Education) Twin Cities Minnesota, USA and the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria. Dr. Ogwo has co-authored and edited six books in metalwork technology, teacher education and instruction, curriculum development and educational technology, descriptive geometry, and methodology for formal and non-formal technical/vocational education. He has 80 published 

papers in various learned journals, technical reports and papers presented several international conferences/workshops. As a consultant, Dr. Ogwo has very rich experiences in workforce program design, development, and implementation. He has managed several international projects aimed at introducing sustainable educational and training innovations. With 25 years in academics as well as consultancy experiences around the world, he is has developed the expertise in designing, developing and implementing customizable training programs for workforce development in various occupational areas. Dr. Ogwo’s passion as a consultant is to avail his expertise and knowledge in developing technically and attitudinally relevant programs for the 21st-century workforce. While at SUNY, Oswego, he worked with colleagues to facilitate the World Bank sponsored training program for technical teachers/researchers in Nigeria, and articulated USAID development/training program proposals for the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan. Dr. Ogwo has worked on different training related projects with many development agencies namely, World Bank, UNESCO (Reversing Africa’s Brain Drain to Brain Gain using Grid Computing Technology), UNICEF (Train-the-Trainer Program on Multi-grade Instructional Delivery System for Nomadic Education), International Labour Organization (ILO) [Apprenticeship program development in West Africa], HP [Development of Learning Objects in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET)], African Development Bank (Establishing business development centers [BDCs] in 11 TVET institutions in Nigeria), African Technology Policy Studies Network (ATPS) and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). Dr Ogwo has also undertaken varied international professional/consultancy activities in the following countries: Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Germany, France, India, Italy, Jamaica, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, South Africa, Uganda, United Kingdom, and the United States of America. His research interests are in informal sector training, non-formal education, instructional system design, training program development, entrepreneurship, workforce education, instructional technology/eLearning and change management.
